Lying Around

Riley has been surprisingly (and pathetically) chilled out the last few days.  Despite taking Tramadol for her broken nail, her left hip seemed to be really bothering her yesterday.  She was limping worse than usual and was actually sort of hopping along walking last night.  I haven’t been giving her her Rimadyl since she’s been on the Tramadol so maybe I should.  Who knows.  We won’t know until Monday when I call the vet but I have seen on another blog that other dogs have been taking both.  I want to get the dosages right with the vet though.

Apparently one of the side effects of the Tramadol is lethargy.  She’s just so pathetic though.  She wants to be near me and hasn’t played with Chloe nearly as much as she usually wants to.  She did a little bit this morning but gave up after about a minute.  Her nail is coming apart bit by bit, so I think I’m going to have to get the rest of it cut off on Monday.  Ouch.  I don’t know if I’m saying ouch more for her or for my wallet!  Here are some pictures I’ve taken (fuzzy again from my iPod):

It’s sticking out to the side a little bit and is almost in two pieces…
Ouchie!
Normally Riley would be eating that blankie!
There’s a lot of licking going on.
Oh, I had forgotten to mention that Riley lost 2 pounds!  That’s good for her hips.  She wasn’t fat, but less weight is good for her hips.  So she weighs 52 lbs now.
So I think we will, unfortunately, be going back to the vet Monday unless the rest of that broken piece comes off before then.  I’ll be glad when I don’t have to post about this annoying nail anymore!  It keeps bleeding every time she bumps it on something.  Poor baby cries every time she hits it.
Don’t forget the Saturday Pet Blogger Hop!

  1. awww, miss riley, you poor lady. you need an air cast for your ouchie paw. or maybe your mama could drive you around in a golf cart. you'd be like royalty! heehee. anywho, i sure hope that nail piece falls off before monday so you don't have to go to the V-E-T!*woof*the booker man

  2. Riley we feel so bad for you! If the nail is fractured but still well attached a little super glue may stabilize it until your veterinarian can check it for actual trimming and coagulation of the quick. We read this in the Ceaser Milan Magazine. Feel better soon!

Riley loves hearing from her friends!
