The Organic Hound

Yes, I know…another treat post?  Yep.  We had the fortunate luck to have received some treats for free (seemingly by accident) from The Organic Hound Company because I had ordered treats through Blissmo (a Groupon type service) a few weeks earlier.

I got them in the mail and hadn’t remembered ordering any.  There was no invoice in with the treats, and I wondered if someone had ordered them for us.  Being the guilty person I am, I scoured through my finances and didn’t see any charges for the treats.  So then I contacted the good people at The Organic Hound to see if they knew who had ordered them.  I received a prompt reply and through a couple of e-mails (and a phone call on The Organic Hound’s part), we were able to figure out that somehow the names from the earlier Blissmo order (for The Barker’s Dozen) had gotten on the list for The Organic Hound’s treats.

They said to keep the treats, they were free (yay!), and Riley has been enjoying them!  They sent three boxes (one of each of their three varieties: Peanut Butter Flax, Pumpkin Ginger, and Beef Heart).  I opened the Pumpkin Ginger treats and Riley LOVES them!  I took them with us to get her pictures made on the 6th, and they definitely captured her attention…in fact, she drooled a little bit…haha!

Anyway, The Organic Hound has great customer service and I was highly impressed with them and their treats!

Peanut Butter Flax on the left, Beef Heart on the right, and the Pumpkin Ginger treats in the middle (I had already recycled the box).

“Mmmmm…I love these!”

The treats are so good that Riley lost all sense of etiquette and stuck her nose right down into the treat container!

Terra Paws Freeze Dried Treats

I was contacted a while back by the president of “Terra Paws,” who wondered if I (well, really Riley) would be interested in trying out a new treat they had coming out.  I said, sure, Riley would LOVE to try some new treats!  So sure enough, a few days later, some samples of their freeze dried dog treats came in the mail.  They smelled really good to the dogs because Riley and Chloe started growling at each other over who was going to get to eat the treats!

I ended up giving the treats to Riley a few days later (she seems to have less “digestion issues” than Chloe does, so I didn’t want to upset Chloe’s stomach) and she LOVED them!  They reminded me of Astronaut Ice Cream, the way they were freeze dried, and I always liked Astronaut Ice Cream.

Terra Paws (<– go check out their website…) sent two varieties, Beef Liver and Sweet Potato, and Sweet Potato and Chicken.  Riley didn’t really seem to favor one variety over the other, but she inhales anything–edible or not–so she might not have the “discerning palate” that your pups have.  The good thing about these treats is that they don’t contain any of the allergens that dogs are often allergic to.

This is her impatient face.

The two treat samples they sent.

I gave her the Beef Liver and Sweet Potato one first…and she loved them!

She inhaled them in like 2 seconds, so I was lucky to get this shot.

Then she got to enjoy the Sweet Potato and Chicken treats.

Yummy!

Care-A-Lot Pets Goodie Bag!

This morning I woke up early and headed out to the local Care-A-Lot Pets store.  They were giving out goodie bags to the first 50 customers.  My sister and I got there at about 8:40 (the store opened at 9:00) and got in a line of about 20 people.  These bags were worth waiting 20 minutes out in the cold!  I mean, they even included fake dog poop from Dogipot.  What could get better than that?  Here’s a picture of all the goodies that were in the reusable shopping bag.  They’ll be doing it again tomorrow morning, so if you’re local, you may want to check it out.  They open at 10:00 AM tomorrow.

You better believe it was worth the wait!  Most things are just samples, but it’s still better than nothing.  A full bag of Halo treats and Mother Hubbard treats and Natural Choice treats.
Also, the fake poop (pictured in the shiny cellophane baggie) is currently sitting out downstairs on the carpet…I’m waiting for my mom (Riley’s Grandma) to go downstairs and freak out!  🙂  Can’t wait!
