Hiding Their Noses

It’s been in the 20’s and 30’s for the last I don’t know how many days.  Riley sleeps on my bed at night and I’ve noticed that the last few nights she’s been hiding her nose up under the covers or putting her nose between the two pillows up at the top of the bed.  I guess her little nose has been getting too cold at night (we do run the heater, but it still gets a bit chilly but nothing too bad).  Then yesterday, I noticed that Chloe was lying with her nose up under Riley to keep it warm…

I saw a Kong Wobbler on someone else’s blog about a month or so ago and thought I’d like to get one for Riley.  I went and looked at Petsmart when we were there the other day and they wanted $19.99 for it…ridiculous.  Care-A-Lot had them for $10.99 but I bought it on Amazon yesterday for $8.60 (score!) plus free two-day shipping with my free Amazon Prime Student account.  It got here today!  So I let Riley figure out on her own how to get her dinner tonight.  She seemed to have fun with it, plus it took her about 10 minutes to eat all her dinner whereas it usually takes her less than 1 minute to eat it out of her bowl.  Here’s a bit of the video I got of her:

Ignore the stacks and stacks of books.  That would be my dad’s misplaced library.  He’s in the process (and when I say in the process I mean hasn’t worked on them in months) of building new book cases.

School’s Out!!

I didn’t unpack all the books from the library book sale the other day and forgotten I’d also gotten two other books for about 25 cents each:

I firmly believe that you can never have too many dog books!  We got the Dachshund book for my dad since Chloe’s a dachshund mix…kinda looks like our dear friend Puddles, doesn’t it?  And the dog on the Dog Care Handbook reminds me of sweet Sugar.
I finished all my school work for this semester last night.  Right now I still have a 99 (actually, a 99.30% to be exact…) in Microbiology and I’m pretty sure I’m going to wind up with an A in Developmental Psychology as well.  My sister decided we should go to a local bakery today to get a cupcake to celebrate!  Unfortunately, I scarfed down the chocolate coconut cupcake so fast that I didn’t think to take a picture of it.  It was REALLY good though!
Then we went to Petsmart while we were out so she could get her dogs some more food.  It was SO crowded in Petsmart!  We happened to park next to a car that had an Australian Cattle Dog sticker on it and an “I Love My Australian Cattle Dog” magnet on it.  I kept my eyes peeled in the store to see if I saw the dog, but I didn’t.  We saw a Golden Retriever, two Rhodesian Ridgebacks, a Mastiff, a Husky puppy, and a yappy little white dog.  I got Riley a new toy for being so good while I was studying this semester.  She’s happily destroying it out in the hall as I’m typing this.  Here’s a picture before she tore into it…
She’s loving shaking it and whacking herself in the chest with it.

RIP Nutty

Well, “Nutty” has died and gone to toy Heaven…and I don’t mean that in a good way.  Well, the way he died, he’s probably more like in toy hell.  Riley ate his leg off and I’m pretty sure chewed it up and swallowed it…not good but she seems to be none the worse for the wear.  She got the wool squeaker pouch out of it but I took it away before she could eat it.  The Galileo Nylabone is still holding up well (as expected).  Here are some pictures of the Kong squirrel before it got thrown away:
