A Hodgepodge

This post is a little bit of this and a little bit of that…and a little bit all over the place.  First of all, I was sitting on the couch the other night and just HAD to get up and take a picture of Riley, Chloe, and Grandma.  Riley thought she needed to be a 52 pound lap dog.

Riley the lap dog.  Notice Chloe is avoiding anything having to do with Riley and/or a camera!
Next up was baby Bailey watching the dogs play in front of her the other day.  She is SO interested in the dogs, especially Riley.  It’s funny to watch her as she watches them go about their day to day “stuffs.”
Little does Bailey know that Riley and Chloe are probably REALLY interested in that picnic basket she has…especially if there’s ever real food in there.
When I went and did my NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) training two weekends ago, the trainees awarded the three trainers (me and two other women) St. Patrick’s Day awards since the training ended on St. Patrick’s Day.  I forget what they actually called the awards, but I got some purple plastic beads.  I was cleaning out my bag to get ready for our Atlantic City trip tomorrow and found the beads in there.  So I figured, “Why not doll Riley up?”  I must say, she looks very cute wearing a purple bead necklace!

And finally, we got a new LeBistro Waterer (I guess that’s what they’re called).  We had the old version, but it was hard to keep clean because of the way it was designed.  The new waterer has a reservoir that unscrews so you can clean out the reservoir, unlike the old one that had a small neck that didn’t unscrew.  I would bleach it out every once and a while, but it would still get moldy.  I like the new design much better.  It will be so much easier to keep clean, plus it has a filter that attaches the reservoir to the base.  Cool.
The old one is upside down, but you can kind of get the drift.
The old one.  You can see the corners near the base are kind of hard to clean, because unless you have freakishly pointy fingers, you can’t fit your fingers or a sponge into the corners.

See, the corners are still kind of dirty, even though I cleaned it!  And that hole is where the water comes out.

Green algae inside the reservoir, even though I’ve cleaned it too.  Ugh.

See the narrow neck that you can’t fit your hand inside or a sponge inside??
All in all, it was a poorly designed waterer, but it was the best they had to offer at the time, 4 years ago.  Luckily, the new one is a vast improvement on the old one.  I would take pictures, but Riley currently has a big clump of dirt and grass lying on the bottom of the new one, so maybe once we clean it out I’ll add some pictures.
Okay, we are off for our girls trip to Atlantic City tomorrow!  We hope everyone has a wonderful rest of the weekend and a great Easter!

  1. We tried those water dishes when they first came out and we had a cat who was fascinated with them. She'd stick her paw up the neck and all the water would drain out on her arm (the cat loved water – she was really a dog in disguise). After flooding the kitchen several times we gave up! :DSam

  7. Riley looks great in the beads! I think that Bailey would look cute wearing them too (she's getting big). We would like one of those water dishes but I think they would tip over and flood the kitchen floor. We have a big dish in a plastic tote since the blind trio tend bump the dish/tote before they drink. Happy vacation!

Riley loves hearing from her friends!
