…not that we’re counting down or anything…! 🙂 Riley has gotten to play fetch in the yard with her beloved Wubba that’s all faded and tattered. She has gotten to cuddle with all of us and gotten to play with Chloe til her heart’s content.

We haven’t pulled the crate out from hiding just yet. I’ll probably get it all ready once Riley goes in for her surgery on Tuesday. No need to get her suspicious of anything. She’ll stay overnight Tuesday and come home with her Frankenweenie leg on Halloween! I figured up that exactly 8 weeks from her surgery day will be Christmas Day, so she can be sprung from her crate then! What a great Christmas present that will be for all of us!!!

I feel so bad about putting her through this again, but I know it’s the best thing to do for her knee. We could wait to do surgery until it gets worse, but I would rather just get it over with now and have her feeling better and not in any more pain. Plus it’s more convenient to have it done right now before Bailey starts crawling and getting into stuff. It’ll be hard to watch the two of them when Bailey’s also mobile. Also, no arthritis has set in yet and if we can catch it early enough, arthritis won’t have the time to set in. I think we have caught it early enough. I have only noticed her limping for about 2 weeks or so now.
She should be as good as new (actually, better than new) after 8 weeks of crate rest. Her surgeon said that her right knee (the one she had surgery on last year) has healed up beautifully and her hips look good so she should be free to run and jump again once this whole ordeal is over. So that’s the good news…it’s just the whole getting to that point thing! Okay, enough negativity!! She’s going to do great again this year and we’ll make it through just like we did last year.
The good thing is that we’ve joined up on the Christmas card and Christmas gift exchange on Jazzi’s blog so we’ll have things to look forward to in the mail until Christmas!!! 🙂
