Lifeguard on Duty

I took Riley to get her nails trimmed at the vet today.  There were a ton of other dogs there, so Riley was extra nervous.  Then these two bad Cocker Spaniels came in and were having a barkfest with this little Pit Bull puppy…making Riley super nervous!  She was so good though, she didn’t bark at them like she probably would have liked to.

So afterwards I took her down to the lake since it’s like 87 degrees today.  She waded in the water, but then people were putting canoes in the water and (of course) she was scared of the canoes.  Can’t really blame her, they are big.  So we didn’t stay long because she wasn’t really interested in getting in the water with the slow people and their big canoes.

(Oh, and P.S.–Riley still weighs 51 pounds!  Woohoo!).

When we got home, I decided to pull out the kiddie pool for her to get in to cool off and to reward her for being so good at the vet.  The first hose I hooked up burst on me (loud boom and water flying everywhere–poor Riley was (of course) scared of that too!), but I found the good one in the garage and filled the pool up.  Riley had a blast.  She just laid down in the pool to cool off.  Too cute.  Here are the pictures!

That’s not just shady lighting…that’s how dirty the pool is after she played in the yard for a little while.  Yuck.

We are looking forward to (hopefully) having some nice weather to pull out the pool again.  Thankfully, Chloe decided it wasn’t warm enough in the backyard to get in the pool.  She’s a pool Czar!  She hogs the pool to all 30 pounds of herself and barks at Riley when Riley gets near the pool.  😦  Meanie!
