Backyard Fun!

We had some nice weather over the past few days here–not too hot and not raining–so we had a little fun in the backyard!  Well, actually, it wasn’t that much fun for me, but it was for Riley…I was poop scooping so we could play out there.  A smelly job, but a necessary one as all pet parents know.

Roaching on a nice day!

Riley with her new Kong Safestix.  Her preferred method of beating herself to death though is still her Wubba and rope toy.

Riley before she went all loco on her rope toy…

Riley shaking her rope toy “to death.”

I picked up a Thundershirt for Riley because it’s going to thunderstorm here for the next 7 or 8 days straight…oh joy.  She has this unhealthy fear of thunder that she’s developed over the last 6 or 8 months or so…  She runs and hides and cowers and shakes whenever she hears thunder, so I’m hoping it works for her.  I also picked up an herbal calming aid that we seemed to have a little bit of success with last week.
If you or someone you know has tried the Thundershirt, can you give me your/their opinion of it?

  3. You'll have to let us know if the Thundershirt works. My last cattle dog mix was terrified of storms too, she'd hide in the shower or the closet. When I knew a storm was on the way – I always made sure she had access to those places and would try to drown out the noise with some sort of white noise. The sad thing is – she didn't stop being afraid until she grew older and lost most of her hearing.

Riley loves hearing from her friends!
