The Chesapeake Retirement Community

Just ignore this post…I posted this a week or two ago during the Blogger meltdown and it had some strange labels on it that I didn’t want showing up anymore…so I had to repost it.  My “real” post from today is below this one–“Wordless Wednesday–Roaching Edition.”

I totally forgot to blog about how my meeting went with the Activities Director of the new (technically not “new,” but new to us) retirement community Riley and I are going to start visiting!  If you want to take a look at their website, you’ll see just how fancy of a place it is: The Chesapeake Retirement Community.

They have a swimming pool at this facility!  Wowsers!  And, three of the seniors there were playing Wii Bowling when I was there.  Too cool.

The Activities Director was very nice (although I think she is under the impression that Riley is a small dog…surprise!) and showed me around the other day.  We’ll be visiting the assisted living building that has three floors.  The only thing I’m a little concerned with is that Riley will have to ride the elevator to get up and down to the different floors.  She’s never been in an elevator before, but hopefully as long as I’m in the elevator with her, she’ll do fine.

The Activities Director told me that they have a lab named Luke that visits every Tuesday morning and when he first started going there (right before Christmas) he was scared of the elevator too but is fine with it now.  We will be visiting every other Thursday afternoon starting next Thursday.  We still have our nursing home visits to Coliseum Park every other Friday (next Friday).  We’re excited to be expanding our reach!!  (Well, I am at least…Riley doesn’t know she’s going somewhere new yet)!

  1. One day when life isn't so busy, Mom hopes to be able to do that with one or more of us. We are sure Riley will do fine after a couple of rides on the elevator. Be sure to have some tasty treats for her when she first rides so she will connect it with a positive thing.Woos ~ Phantom, Thunder, and Ciara

  3. Wow an elevator. I'm sure Riley will do fine. Wyatt saw an escalator in the farm store he shops in. We walked over to it, but he was saying, NO WAY!Thanks for your comment on the Airedale get together. Stanzie's relatives live about 5 hours away. I think she has some relatives in our area somewhere???

  5. Very cool! I wish you lots of luck with the new place. :)I am sure Riley will get used to the elevator – Bella had never been in one before we had to take it to obedience class, and it was just fine. 🙂

  7. Boy, Riley, you have a schedule and everything. Official Therapy Dog, huh? Sounds like a mutually beneficial relationship to me. I think I'm a therapy dog too, but I just pick out people on the street who look like they could use a little attention.Have fun! Tchao-wow,ruca

Riley loves hearing from her friends!
