First of all, thank you all so much for your birthday wishes for Riley on Friday and for your support throughout Chloe’s surgery ordeal! We’re happy to have made some new friends in Blogville over the weekend!
Riley had a great time on her therapy visit on Friday afternoon (on her birthday). Everyone told her happy birthday and one of the residents even sang “Happy Birthday” to her! She (of course) acted like a super star on her visit! We didn’t get time to go to the beach on Friday, but I will try to take her sometime this week if it is nice out. It’s supposed to rain a lot this week… 😦
Riley and I after our nursing home visit on Friday. She wore her ruffled birthday collar!
Chloe is doing a bit better. Basically, she got to sleep on the couch all weekend while Riley and I stayed upstairs or outside or else Riley stayed in the crate. It was back to the grind today though, since Grandma and Grandpa went back to work. We were putting Chloe in the dining room because she was doing better in there than in the crate, but now she’s figured out that she can stick her entire head out from under the baby gate and she knocked over some of the stuff we were blocking the room off with.
Chloe also popped an air mattress and chewed it up while she was confined in the dining room. My mom had set the air mattress right up against the baby gate so Chloe couldn’t stick her head underneath and so she wouldn’t be able to see us (that makes her crying and barking worse)…so Chloe decided to have a little fun with it!
The surgical patient and the destroyed air mattress…
Chloe spent the day in the crate today while my parents were gone to work. Riley and I stayed upstairs in my room and Chloe only barked and whined about 50% of the time and actually settled down and slept the other 50% of the time. And sometime in there, she managed to chew up the dog bed that was in there with her, but luckily she never ingests what she chews up, she just leaves a mess everywhere.
We heard from the surgeon the other day and she said that Chloe had no cancer! So that’s really good! The mass on her spleen was a splenic nodular hyperplasia (non-cancerous) and the nodule in her bladder was benign and was causing cystitis (inflammation of the bladder) and UTIs. She said the spots on Chloe’s left kidney were from where she had had little “strokes” to that kidney.
Woof! Woof! Golden Thanks for letting me know … I did missed this post. What a great day you had Riley. LOVE your ruffle collar. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar
